This cow appeared almost in a flash once I set about to paint her and was a pure delight. I do love the cows! It has been my favorite subject for more than ten years now. I try to analyze the why of it but ‘tis a mystery! Perhaps it is in my Irish DNA to love these big dairy cows that dot the landscape of my mother’s homeland. This gal looks deep in thought and or perhaps it is a connection I see to all that is and a connection to the here and now. Hoping your day is a peaceful and joy fulled one! Thanks for stopping by!

Such a peaceful scene! I love to see these horses roaming in the beautiful marshes of Chincoteague. If you have not visited the area, it is well worth it and is especially pretty in the early
Fall. For several years in a row, I would visit there in September for the annual Plein air paint out and show. It was great fun. I decided that I was more of a studio painter but still liked getting together with friends and enjoying the scenery. . Thanks for stopping by!

Today was my favorite kind of day. Painting with a friend. We started at 10 and broke for lunch at noon which of course, included dessert. Then back to our easels for another two hours of work. The creative energy is multiplied and having another set of eyes to critique is invaluable. If you are an artist, I highly recommend getting together with friends to paint. You will have a blast! What other ways to you have to bring freshness and fun to your art practice?

This piece is titled “Up Close And Personal”. I really do enjoy capturing a close up view of my subjects because I am intruquied by the animal’s expression and what is behind their soulful eyes. I believe it is the same spark of life and consciousness that we all share. One of the things on my bucket list is to visit a barn rescued animals live out their days and to be able to hug a cow! One such place is called “The Gentle Barn” in Tennessee. All the animals there have come from abusive situations and are loved into trusting again. As a service to others, the Gentle barn brings children and adults to the farm to spend time with the animals who have experience trauma and abuse themselves. It is really beautiful to see the healing take place and no words are needed. As soon as I am able to hug a cow, I will share it to my blog. I just need to find a friend who will go on the road trip with me! Hope you have a wonderful week!

Late last spring I moved home to my house in Chesapeake which I had rented out for six years. My little garden in the front looked very sad. Disease had taken hold of my knockout roses and many of the pretty perennials I had planted had since died. I am so excited for this spring to see the new newly planted native azaleas grow and to work to make it even more beautiful. My knockouts are full of leaves already so I am hopeful. This piece awakened the desire to create something really special out there and I don’t plan on leaving my garden again! Do you have a favorite flower in your garden?

Dreams of returning to beautiful Kerry in Ireland inspired this piece. I love to think about what is just beyond the curve in the road...
