Shih Tzu Dog At Play

10" by 10" original acrylic on gallery wrap canvas with sides painted.
I had a great time this past weekend doing the show at Jerry's Artarama. I did three paintings while sitting at my booth and this is one of them. I have been enjoying acrylics as a change of pace and like the fast drying time too. Hope your Monday went well. I am going to Portsmouth tomorrow to take some paintings to a gallery and check on a possible studio space for the summer. Take care!

White Irish Cow Painting

10" by 10" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted. I couldn't stay away from my Irish cows too long! I was good to do a white one with lots of thick brushstrokes again. I had a really busy studio day with shipping and worked on several paintings for my show this weekend at Jerry's Artarama on Providence Road in Virginia Beach. I am not sure I will schedule two shows in one month again but I AM getting alot of painting done! I have been having fun switching back and forth from acrylic to oil. It is fun to change things up. I have also been switching between fruits, animals, and flowers. I am planning to do some portraits of people too soon. Well, it is time to call it a night so have a wonderful day tomorrow! White Lab Retriever Original Acrylic

10" by 10" original acrylic on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted.
After having so much fun with acrylics at the art festival this past weekend, I decided to do another one and I am really pleased with it. I love labradors and how much love shines through their faces. They are adorable and SO smart. I can't wait until Sean comes home with my grandpuppy! Pretty soon he will be a granddog. My son says he is shedding ALOT and is bigger than ever. I am going to have to keep my new couches covered for sure.
I also worked on two other acrylics that I will most likely put in this weekend's show. If you live near Chesapeake, I will be at Jerry's Artarama all weekend inside. There will also be artists outside in the parking lot. Hope to see you there!

6" by 6" original acrylic on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted.
Tonight's post is a painting that I did at the art festival that I was in this past Sunday. I chose to do acrylic for the ease of handling it and I am so pleased with how it turned out! I think I will do more acrylic this week as I am in a show this coming weekend also. I had many requests for custom pet portraits which I am really excited about. All different breeds! I love the expression on this little guy. I really do like fluffy little lap dogs but I love the big ones too. In a couple of weeks I will have my grandpuppy home, Brewsky, with my son Sean. They will be home all summer so it will be LOTS of fun around here. He is a black lab who weighs about 80 pounds now! I'll be doing another black lab this week also. Have a wonderful day! Black and White Cow

18" by 24" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.
I had so much fun painting this one! I loved all the whites in her fur and the strong character in her face. I am not sure if I will put this one in this weekend's show. If you are interested, please e-mail me about her at [email protected].
Well, today was another fun and productive day painting and planning for the art festival. I also went to Andrew's soccer game this evening. They won again which makes them 2 to 0 for the season. Yeah! This evening I am going to begin a portrait of a shitzu.....a little 6" by 6". I am really enjoying these little portraits. I have been doing quite a few commissions lately. With Mother's Day and Father's Day coming up and graduations too, I am sure I will get even more. Have a great day Friday! TGIF!

Schnauzer Dog Portrait

8" by 8" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 sides painted.
This was my first time to paint a schnauzer dog. One of Andrew's closest friends has two who always greet us at the door with all kinds of love and enthusiasm! They are listed as on of the top 10 dogs in America so they make wonderful family pets. It is currently listed on auction.
I had a great day today teaching in the afternoon at Harbor's Edge. I didn't paint this evening but had some down time in my family room. Tomorrow I will be working on several pet portrait commissions and getting ready for next week's Fred Huette Herb and Crafts Show in downtown Ghent. Please come see me if you live in the area. Rooster On The Fence

14" by 18" on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted.
I can't believe it is 11 o'clock and I am still in my studio doing my blog. My intention was to get in bed early tonight but that didn't happen. Andrew's first game of the season was great. His team won 2 to 0. Yeah! Today was such a beautiful sunny day with all the blossoms bright and colorful. It made for a nice evening in the stadium.
Today I finished this rooster which I really like. I like the white roosters and the darker background. I am aure it will find a good home to roost. I also worked on a schnauser portrait and I will be posting it tomorrow. I am trying to do quite a few of the animal portraits for my upcoming show in Ghent next week called the Fred Huette Herb and Craft Sale. It is a fun show and I was able to get an indoor spot so I don't have to set up my tent. If you are local and around next weekend, stop by and see me! Click to Bid!

Sunflowers In Red Vase

14" by 16" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.
Today was a really great day with my morning spent organizing my studio. It is amazing what a difference organizing my surroundings makes on the calmness of my brain. In the afternoon I taught here at home and then headed down to Harbor's Edge where I teach on Friday. They were having a special dinner and art show called, "April In Paris". I was invited to join and the student's work was on display. It was a great evening. When I came home, I finished up this piece and began a rooster that I will be posting tomorrow. Last night I didn't get in bed until after midnight so I am going to try to make it earlier tonight. Have a super day today! Click to Bid!

Golden Retriever Dog Art

8" by 8" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted. It is currently on auction on eBay. What a busy day!!!! Some days feel like a marathon race and today was one of them. I REALLY need to organize my studio tomorrow morning before I have my student here in the afternoon. You all can hold me to it! Wouldn't it be nice to have quiet little worker bees come in to set everything in its place while we all get a good night's sleep? Actually that kind of creeps me out now that I read it but you know what I mean. I am grateful for all the business though. Tomorrow night I am having a meal at Harbor's Edge where I teach. They are having an April in Paris Show featuring some of the paintings they have been doing in our class together. I am looking forward to it. Next week I am doing an outdoor show in Ghent here in Norfolk and bought a bunch of canvas and paint today to get ready. I'll have to paint most of the work by this weekend to have it dry by next week. Then I can focus on some small acrylics that dry right away. Well, I'm off to get some sleep and be ready for a new day tomorrow. Have an awesome day tomorrow. Click to Bid!

Red Flowers In Vase

Hope you all had a good start to your week. I decided to make Monday my office day as I have been really looking forward to spending some time on marketing and getting organized for the week. That took most of the day and then Andrew and I went to our favorite Chinese place for General Tsao chicken. He had off from school today and afterwards I got started on this new painting. I don't think it is finished yet but I wanted to post it tonight and perhaps again when it is finished. It needs a bit more depth and zing on the flowers. Well, I am off to twitter. I have been having fun writing on twitter and reading what everyone is up to so if you are on twitter, add me to your friends! I am also on myspace at www.myspace.com/normawilsonfineart :-) Visit My eBay Store

Today started pretty slowly with lots of time spent on my laptop doing some marketing and gathering painting ideas and I finally got up to my studio this evening to begin this still life in my studio. I think I needed some down time after teaching yesterday and doing Danna Crawford's Blogtalk radio last night. I had fun spending the hour with Danna talking about my journey on eBay and if you'd like to listen to it just click here. http://www.blogtalkradio/dannacrawford
I enjoyed doing this fruit still life and the freshness of the contrasting color palette. It is currently on auction on eBay. Thanks for visiting with me for a bit! http://tinyurl.com/2tx4gc
